There are 3 books that most self-respecting cricket nerds read each year. Wisden is one of those books. This is one of the other two. I gives a potted history of the English season (very potted at 359-odd pages), the players who will play this season, and English Counties who play first class cricket.

It's genuinely a reliable read. If you want to have a book that you can put in your pocket and refer to when you see a new player come on the field, this book is for you.

The best cricket annual by far. Wisden is too long winded. This is just perfect for me. Informative. Consise. I have around thirty years of these now. Wouldnt be without it

Just bought my first edition from Amazon and was astonished by the extent of the information available and the logical presentation. I was most impressed by the foreword , it gives such a precise and grounded summary of the state of the game today which seems to be getting more and more confused. With the authors concern and knowledge of the game I'm surprised he's not been snapped up by the media. I'll be buying again next year.

No cricket fan should be without this annual essential. All the details and analysis that you could wish for in a very handy size and always at a terrific price given the work involved. A must-have even if you only have a passing interest in the game.

Excellent companion for cricket enthusiasts. This was the first time I bought the kindle version and it took a little while to get used to perusing it. However, the search facility makes it a very useful format and I can keep this and future editions without taking up any more shelf space.

Another year, another Playfair. It’s good to know that some things in life don’t change..but maybe it’s time they should. The face of cricket has changed dramatically over the last few years, and it would be good to see Playfair come to the party. A stats man like me would love a more comprehensive individual T20 domestic and international stats section. But it will always be my first love..

Provides most (if not all) the statistics the cricket fan would want. Use it all the time
